Three sisters and a “little madhouse” of love: Help for my mother and aunts in Venezuela

I am Elvira Villasmil. Since April 9, 2026, I have been caring for my mother and my two aunts in Maracaibo.

In this home, dementia, intellectual disability, health problems, and the daily need for care are all part of our reality.

On May 13, I publicly shared my cry for help after realizing that I could not carry this responsibility alone.
I have gone more than 60 days without relief. My working life is on hold, and I am the only caregiver.

Our story

I returned to Maracaibo to care for my mother and my two aunts—three older sisters living with vulnerability, cognitive decline, disability, health needs, and a home that urgently requires attention.

What I found when I arrived was a difficult reality: unmet basic needs, health problems, safety risks in the home, and a daily caregiving burden that requires constant presence.

With my working life on hold and very high monthly expenses, I cannot sustain this responsibility alone.

Your help allows me to provide food, hygiene, medical care, a safer home, and—most importantly—continuity of care.

Thank you for becoming part of this circle of love. ♡

One month since my cry for help

One month has passed since I publicly asked for help. Millions have not arrived; small acts of kindness have. Those contributions have bought food, addressed urgent needs, and carried us through days I did not know how I would sustain.

Thank you to everyone who has stood with us. This support needs to continue.
